Glenda Dennis

founder

Glenda was a woman whose life was marked by compassion and quiet strength. She was known for her loving spirit, her gentle heart, and her deep affection for others. She especially loved animals, and cats held a special place in her heart. Her care for them was more than a pastime, as it reflected the tenderness and generosity that guided the way she lived each day.

In 2013, Glenda founded Kitty Kottage, an effort born from her love of kittens and her desire to help them find homes. Through this work, she helped countless kittens and connected with people from all over the United States who shared her love for animals. Kitty Kottage became a meaningful expression of who she was, and it stood as a testament to her dedication, her compassion, and her willingness to serve others, both human and animal alike.

Cheri Hannah

Co-Founder, President

My love for cats began in childhood. My mother was always rescuing cats in need, and watching her compassion left a lasting impression that has stayed with me throughout my life.

As an adult, I spent many years working in veterinary medicine, where I had the privilege of learning from exceptional veterinarians and caring for countless cats. Every patient, every challenge, and every mentor taught me invaluable lessons about feline health, behavior, and the resilience of these remarkable animals.

When Kitty Kottage was founded, I brought those years of knowledge and experience into the rescue world. Combining veterinary knowledge with a passion for saving lives has allowed me to help hundreds of mothers, kittens, and vulnerable cats receive the care they deserve. While every rescue is unique, each one reminds me why this work is my life’s calling.

Today, I remain committed to giving every cat that comes through Kitty Kottage the best possible chance at a healthy, happy life. There is no greater reward than watching a frightened, sick, or orphaned kitten grow into a thriving companion, and I am grateful every day to be part of that journey.

OUR BOARD

Erin Bishop

Vice President

Erin is honored to serve as Vice President of Kitty Kottage. She grew up with dogs, but after meeting her husband, she quickly fell in love with cats too. As a retired military family, they settled in the Wiregrass area after her husband’s retirement and are proud to call this community home.

Their home is currently shared with three cats and two dogs, all rescues, because rescue is their favorite breed. She firmly believe pets are family, and no matter where life takes you, they deserve to go with you.

Since joining Kitty Kottage in 2022, she has fostered more than 100 kittens, including nursing moms with their babies, bottle babies, orphaned kittens, and kittens needing medical care. Her favorite part of fostering is watching her entire family love, play with, and socialize the kittens, helping prepare them for their forever homes. Seeing them grow from tiny, vulnerable kittens into confident, playful companions is incredibly rewarding.

She and her husband are blessed with two wonderful daughters, and their whole family shares a love for animals. She is grateful to be part of Kitty Kottage and to help give every cat and kitten the chance to find the loving home they deserve.

Jan Long

Treasurer

Jan’s involvement with Kitty Kottage began in April 2016 when her husband was asked by one of the organization’s founders, Glenda Dennis, to become its first non-employee foster caregiver. After much consideration, she agreed. At that time, she had very little experience with cats, let alone kittens.

Over the next eight years, Jan and her family fostered approximately 180 cats and kittens, with only three foster fails, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in feline care and rescue. As her involvement with Kitty Kottage grew, she began volunteering in the cattery, assisting with dishwashing, laundry, and other daily operational tasks. She later took on administrative responsibilities including preparing and processing adoption and transport paperwork.

In 2019, Glenda invited Jan to join the Kitty Kottage Board of Directors as Secretary. Since then, she has also served as Vice-President and Treasurer, supporting the organization’s governance and financial oversight.

At the end of 2025, she expanded her role by beginning to write grant proposals to help secure funding and support Kitty Kottage’s mission of rescuing and caring for cats and kittens.

Karen Windle

Secretary

Karen’s journey with Kitty Kottage began in July 2019 after she followed the rescue’s updates about a tiny kitten named Lance. Watching his story unfold inspired her to become involved, and opening her home to foster kittens felt like the perfect way to make a difference. What began as a desire to help quickly grew into a passion for fostering and a deep commitment to the rescue’s mission.

Over the years, Karen and her family have welcomed well over 100 kittens into their home. Each one has been loved, nurtured, and prepared for the next chapter of life before leaving for a forever family. While saying goodbye is never easy, knowing each kitten is beginning a happy new life makes every farewell worthwhile.

Karen has watched Kitty Kottage grow, adapt, and overcome challenges while remaining steadfast in its commitment to saving the lives of mothers and kittens. She has seen firsthand the compassion and dedication that make the rescue so special and is proud to have been part of that mission.

Karen was honored to be invited to serve on the Board of Directors in 2026. She looks forward to helping ensure Kitty Kottage remains a place of comfort, love, and safety for the most vulnerable cats and kittens for many years to come.

OUR AMAZING TEAM

Linda Clemmons

Cattery Manager

Originally from Massachusetts, Linda is a proud retired US Navy veteran and the Manager of Kitty Kottage. Her journey with Kitty Kottage began in June 2017, when she first started volunteering. In those early days, she helped wherever she was needed, taking on everything from laundry & kennel care to cleaning litter boxes & supporting the daily needs of the cats & kittens in the shelter.

Through her dedication, reliability, and passion for animal welfare, she worked her way into the manager position. What began as volunteer work quickly became something much more meaningful. Kitty Kottage became more than a rescue to her – it became family.

Over the years, she has adopted several Kitty Kottage cats, including Sugarman, Mufasa, Snow White, JJ, Annie, O’Malley, Storm, and Jamie. In between those adoptions, she also fostered countless kittens, each one leaving a lasting imprint on her heart.

She is honored to be part of the rescue’s mission to provide care, hope, healing, and loving homes for cats and kittens in need.

Judy Burch

Cattery Supervisor

Judy has been working with cats for nearly 20 years, dedicating much of her life to their care, comfort, and well-being. Her journey began when Mrs. Glenda hired her to step into her sister’s former role as cattery manager while Glenda was working with Save a Pet. It was there that she gained valuable hands-on experience caring for cats and helping manage the daily needs of a rescue environment.

When Kitty Kottage was later formed, she knew immediately that she wanted to be part of it. The kindness, dedication, and love shown by the people behind the rescue made a lasting impression on her, and she felt called to continue serving alongside them.

Judy has been involved with KK since it first opened. Through all these years, the rescue has always remained close to her heart. To her, the people of Kitty Kottage are more than a team — they are family. And the cats are more than animals in her care — they are truly her life’s passion.

She feels incredibly grateful to be part of a mission that brings safety, healing, and love to cats in need, and to work with such an amazing team.

Mattie Brown

Cattery Supervisor

Mattie has been a dedicated member of the Kitty Kottage team since her junior year of high school and is currently pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

With a lifelong passion for animals, she is deeply committed to providing compassionate care for every cat and kitten that comes through the rescue. She considers it a true privilege to help these precious, voiceless lives recover, heal, and ultimately find safe, loving forever homes.

Working alongside such a compassionate and supportive team has made her experience especially meaningful. She is grateful to be part of an organization whose members share the same commitment to animal welfare and work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.

Mattie sincerely hopes Kitty Kottage will continue serving the community for many years to come, as its mission is both invaluable and greatly needed. Being part of each animal’s journey toward a brighter future is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work, and she is honored to contribute to that mission every day.

Bambi Needham

Cat Care Specialist

Bambi has been an animal lover from the very beginning. Her connection to cat rescue started long before Kitty Kottage officially existed, when she managed Miss Glenda’s cattery nearly 20 years ago. There, she helped care for the cats and kittens who meant so much to Miss Glenda and became part of the foundation that would grow into Kitty Kottage.

Bambi later joined Cat Medical Center as a full-time veterinary assistant and office manager, turning the cattery over to her sister, Judy Burch, whom she trusted to continue the work. Even while working in veterinary medicine, she remained involved with Miss Glenda and the rescue whenever she could.

Bambi is grateful to have known Miss Glenda as both a mentor and a friend and to have cared for the cats she loved so deeply. Alongside Kitty Kottage’s new president, Cheri, she is dedicated to carrying on Miss Glenda’s dream.

For Bambi, this mission is deeply personal. She knows that without compassionate people willing to help, many of these cats and kittens would not survive. Every life saved is a reminder of why this work matters.

Andrew McGouirk

Cat Care Specialist

Andrew’s love for cats began early in life, having grown up with cats around him and always appreciating their quiet companionship. Over the years, he came to understand just how comforting and meaningful that bond could be. During difficult moments, cats were often a source of calm, comfort, and unconditional presence, which helped shape his desire to give back to them in return.

His path into cat rescue came naturally from that lifelong connection. When the opportunity arose for him to help cats in need, he knew it was something he wanted to be part of. What began as a chance to support their care quickly became something deeply important to him.

Andrew has never regretted stepping into rescue work. He finds purpose in being there for the cats, whether that means helping with their daily care, offering comfort, building trust, or simply making sure they feel safe and loved. Whatever needs to be done, Andrew is always right there to do it. To him, rescue is about giving cats the same kind of comfort and companionship they have always given him.

He is grateful to be part of a mission that helps cats and kittens receive care, kindness, and the opportunity to find loving homes.

Bob Hill

Volunteer Extraordinaire

Bob Hill has been a dedicated volunteer with Kitty Kottage for nearly 14 years, making him one of the organization’s longest-serving and most valued members. Since almost the very beginning, Bob has generously given his time, energy, and heart to the rescue, becoming a familiar and comforting presence for both the cats and the people who care for them.

Each week, Bob spends time socializing the cats, helping them build trust and confidence as they prepare for their forever homes. Whether he’s sitting quietly with a shy newcomer, playing with energetic kittens, or offering comfort to cats who need a little extra patience, Bob understands that these moments of love and interaction are just as important as food and shelter. His gentle nature and calm presence have helped countless cats become happier, healthier, and more adoptable.

Beyond spending time with the cats, Bob is always willing to lend a hand wherever he is needed. From tackling maintenance projects and repairs to helping with daily shelter tasks, he approaches every job with the same dependable attitude and willingness to serve. No task is too small or too big if it helps Kitty Kottage continue its mission.

OUR FELINE BOSSES

Some cats arrive at Kitty Cottage with terminal illnesses, serious medical needs, or severe behavior challenges that make adoption unlikely. These special resident house cats are given a safe, loving home at Kitty Kottage for life, with comfort, dignity, and ongoing care for as long as they need us.
