The story of Kitty Kottage began with a simple but powerful question: *What about the cats no one else was saving?*

Long before Kitty Kottage officially opened its doors, founders Glenda and Cheri spent countless hours volunteering with another rescue organization. Together, they walked through local shelters, helping pull cats that had already been approved for rescue. But as they made their way down the rows of kennels, they couldn’t ignore the cats left behind.

There were heavily pregnant mothers waiting to give birth in a shelter, nursing moms trying to care for tiny kittens, frightened cats who had lost everything they knew, injured and sick animals in desperate need of medical care, and vulnerable kittens who simply weren’t being chosen. Time and time again, Glenda and Cheri found themselves asking the same question: *Who was going to help them?*

Those walks through the shelter stayed with them. The images of the forgotten cats lingered long after they left each day, and their conversations always returned to the same idea. There had to be a better way. There had to be a rescue dedicated to the cats and kittens that others simply didn’t have the resources to take in.

What began as a shared concern soon became a shared dream. Over the next two years, Glenda and Cheri spent countless hours discussing what such a rescue could look like, the challenges they would face, and how they could build an organization centered on compassion, medical care, and second chances. Eventually, those conversations led to a decision neither could ignore—they wouldn’t wait for someone else to solve the problem. They would become the someone they had been hoping for.

From that determination, Kitty Kottage was born.

Since its founding, Kitty Kottage has remained true to the vision that inspired it: providing a safe haven for pregnant mothers, nursing cats, orphaned kittens, injured and medically fragile cats, and those who might otherwise be overlooked. Built on compassion, perseverance, and the belief that every life has value, Kitty Kottage continues to carry forward the mission Glenda and Cheri first imagined during those unforgettable walks through the shelter.
